Other Connectivity options

While Psion's "EPOC Connect" product PsiWin will successfully synchronize your Psion with many Personal Information Manager (PIM) applications it has not been updated to convert the latest versions of some of these PIMs.

There are a number of plug-ins and 3rd-party options available.

A Desktop FTP Server

If you're using a Series 7 or netBook then Ewan Spence has an interesting option for you: use a Wi-Fi connection to connect to an FTP server on your desktop machine.

The netBook ROM with the Wi-Fi drivers also comes with a full copy of Neuon’s nFTP program. Couple this with one the many freeware FTP servers [such as Baby FTP Server] for your Desktop, and you’re almost there.

Of course, this option won't allow you to synchronize your Contacts or Agenda with Outlook or other PIM.

Upgrade

Also available on the handango store website is this upgrade for £4.89. I am assuming that this will upgrade previous versions of Psion InSync Pro E to the latest version.

The same upgrade can be found as a free download (2.23 MB) on Psion's MyPsion website. You will need to register (which is free) to access this site.

"This upgrade provides InSync Pro with additional support for Notes R5 and Email and Contact Manager synchronization, when used in conjunction with PsiWin 2.3 and a Psion Series 5mx, Revo or Series 7."

Lotus Organizer 5.0 and 6.0
Plugin for PsiWin

There is a Lotus Organizer 5.0 and 6.0 Plug-in for PsiWin available for download (Zip, 1.34 MB) either on the Psion MyPsion website, or from this website (Zip, 1.34 MB).

The information about this plug-in on the Psion website suggests that it is compatible only with PsiWin 2.3.1, however, I have successfully synchronized my Psion 5mx Agenda and Contacts with Lotus Organiser 5.02 (SmartSuite 9.7) using PsiWin 2.3.3.

(You can find out which version of PsiWin you have installed by opening MyPsion from the Windows desktop and selecting Help | About PsiWin 2.3.)
